Guillaume St-Laurent is a pianist and composer. Recently, he was the musical director of the six biggest musicals staged in Montreal (Mary Poppins, Grease, Singin’ in the Rain, Hairspray, Sister Act and Sweeney Todd). His real passion, however, is composing music for film. For this reason, after studying jazz and classical piano in university, Guillaume completed a degree in film music from l’Université du Québec à Montréal
Guillaume thus began a career by scoring many short films and in doing so, distinguished himself. He was the top winner of the 2011 and the 2012 editions of the SOCAN Foundation Awards for Young Audio-visual Composers. Jury member and Star Trek composer, Paul Baillargeon, stated that “Guillaume St-Laurent’s work on Noémie, in particular, showed very song orchestral writing. All jury members were very impressed with his entry.”
Guillaume subsequently contributed to the music of many projects including the television series Théo, Bookaboo, Les Rescapés, and Crusoe (NBC), the IMAX film The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D as well as the Cirque du Soleil show Les Chemins Invisibles. He is currently working on the preparation of the musical Mary Poppins and is also scoring 7, a short fiction film directed by Eric Chaussé.
